Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified Occupational Hygiene Manager to join our clients team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management of hygiene and environmental health within a mining environment. Responsibilities
Hygiene Management: Identify, evaluate, and control stressors that could negatively impact the environment and/or the health of individuals.
Risk Management: Implement and oversee integrated risk management systems to ensure workplace safety and compliance.
Emergency Preparedness and Response: Develop and manage emergency response plans to mitigate potential risks.
Statutory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
People Management: Lead and manage a medium-sized team effectively, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
SHERQ Adherence: Ensure compliance with Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality (SHERQ) standards.
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to achieve long-term objectives.
Report Writing: Compile and present technical reports to internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Educational Qualifications
Grade 12 (Essential)
B Degree in Occupational Health or Environmental Health (Essential)
Chamber of Mines Certificate in Mine Environmental Control or Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control (Essential)
Accreditation & Registration
Registered Occupational Hygienist with the South African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH) (Essential)
Experience
Minimum of 2 years operational hygiene management experience in a mining environment (Essential)
Minimum of 5 years management experience in hygiene management (Essential)
Minimum of 1 year operational integrated risk management system experience (Essential)
Experience in a surface mining environment will be an added advantage (Total of 8 years’ experience)
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies
Management Skills: Proven ability to manage a medium-sized team effectively.
Integrated Management System Knowledge: Proficiency in ISO9001, ISO45000 (Lead Auditor), and ISO14000 systems and audits.
Computer Literacy: Proficient in MS Office Suite and basic knowledge of Isometrix.
Analytical Skills: Ability to evaluate and analyze information to draw actionable conclusions.
Negotiation Skills: Capability to negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Report Writing Skills: Competence in compiling and presenting technical reports.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to devise and implement long-term strategies to meet organizational objectives.
