We are on the hunt for a Procurement Manager to join our client's team at their Head Office in Cape Town. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing our procurement strategy, ensuring the business remains competitive through innovative sourcing, supplier partnerships, and cost optimisation. Responsibilities
Product Sourcing & Innovation
  • Research international markets to identify new and innovative products.

  • Expand and enhance the product range to improve quality, profitability, and competitiveness.

  • Identify private label opportunities and support the launch of new products.

  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to stay ahead in the market.

Supplier Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers.

  • Conduct supplier performance reviews and address any disputes effectively.

  • Ensure suppliers consistently meet quality and service standards.

Commercial Negotiation & Cost Optimisation
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, rebates, freight terms, exclusivity agreements, and contracts.

  • Achieve measurable procurement savings and improve gross margins.

  • Analyse landed costs and recommend strategies to mitigate exchange rate impacts.

Import Procurement & Supply Chain
  • Plan purchasing activities in collaboration with department buyers based on forecasts.

  • Manage import purchasing, freight, customs compliance, and landed costing for assigned suppliers and products.

  • Ensure continuity of supply while optimising inventory levels.

Buying & Procurement Administration
  • Process purchase orders and maintain accurate supplier records.

  • Monitor stock levels and shipment schedules to ensure timely delivery.

  • Coordinate supplier payments and reconciliations.

  • Maintain accurate import documentation and communicate estimated time of arrivals (ETAs).

Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure compliance with NRCS, SABS, SARS, and customs regulations.

  • Maintain Letters of Authority and audit-ready procurement records.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field.

  • Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving cost savings and favourable agreements.

  • In-depth knowledge of international sourcing, import processes, and customs compliance.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess landed costs and gross margins.

  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to build and maintain supplier partnerships.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as NRCS, SABS, and SARS.

  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
