My client will be looking to you to oversee the software engineering discipline, taking charge of the development, and maintenance of software platform.

Duties &Responsibilities

  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to the development team, including mentoring and coaching developers and helping them to develop their skills and knowledge. This involves staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in the industry, and providing recommendations for best practices and tools.
  • Collaborating across teams, such as Service Desk, UAT, various Business Departments and SPO to ensure maintenance project milestones are met which contribute to successful project delivery and support.
  • Collaborating with Service Desk and project managers on task prioritization and assignment of development team members.
  • Interpreting and aligning on project documentation (Business Requirement Specifications, Solution Designs, etc.).
    • Validating and assisting developers with task prioritization and estimations in order to plan deliverables with project managers and stakeholders.
  • Act as a technical expert on system related incidents and service requests, providing guidance and mentoring to other team members as needed.
  • Communicate incidents and service requests progress, risks, and issues to Service Desk and other stakeholders.
  • Communicate project progress, risks, and issues to project managers and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate measures to ensure the team follows proper coding standards, testing practices, and quality assurance processes to ensure that software products are developed to high standards of quality and are production stable.
  • Chairing and overseeing code reviews and peer review processes, ensuring coding standards are met by the developers.
  • Engage regularly with key project members in order to ensure the development within the team is according to business requirements.
  • Facilitate and ensure the project developers produce documentation that may be used as artefacts for Operational support.
  • Review planning of production deployments ensuring all procedures are executed in the correct manner to reduce minimum disruption in production stability.
  • Ensuring all implementation steps are documented on Change Requests and any required scripts are available by any member of the Dev team.
  • Facilitating with on boarding of new members within the development team that applies to all the phases interviewing, hiring processes, etc.
  • Chairing and overseeing daily team stand-ups of the development teams and ensuring dashboards, tasks and incidents reports are updated on a regular basis.
  • Collaborating with other peer Technical Lead Developers, ensuring sufficient coverage and continuity on all portfolios, projects and production stability.
  • Facilitating with the monthly SPO Resource Allocations planning forums.
  • Team Foundation Server Administration and assist developers with source code management.
  • Define and refine review steps, documentation required and outputs/actions throughout the SDLC as it pertains to the Development team to ensure successful release.
  • Facilitate collaboration sessions and knowledge sharing initiatives for the team.
  • Lead initiatives within the team as approved by the ADM.
  • Delegating work and assignments to team members to meet team or project objectives.
  • Collaborate with the team to identify and fix technical problems.
  • Create end goals for the betterment of the team.
  • Check that software and applications are updated.
  • Oversee the ongoing drive to increase efficiency, optimization, innovation and people development.
  • Engage regularly with software architects in order to ensure the development within the Team is according to architectural guidelines.
  • Ensure the day-to-day operational activities improve the performance of products and systems.
  • Ensure techniques, technologies, tools, and processes used are in line with industry best practices.

DesiredExperience & Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification/s
  • Solid and proven experience n MCF, C#.Net, TSQL
  • Azure DevOps would be great to have, together with Source Code analysis tools, SSIS, SSRS, ASP,Net ActiveBatch, SharePoint
  • Agile
  • System Archtecture and Technical Design
  • Must have experience in working in complex teams and environments – multi-tier solutions
