Finance Manager – Engineering

Job Overview:

As the Finance Manager - Engineering, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with IFRS, and providing financial insights for solar projects. You will play a crucial role in managing costs, tracking financial performance, and supporting the company's growth in the renewable energy sector.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Financial Management:
  • Analyze the financial aspects of solar engineering projects

  • Monitor and control capital expenditures and project cash flows

Cash Flow and Working Capital Management:
  • Oversee cash flow and working capital management

  • Manage payment terms, invoicing, and collections

Financial Reporting and Compliance:
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports

Cost Control and Efficiency:
  • Monitor and control operational costs related to solar engineering projects

  • Implement cost control strategies to maximize project profitability

Financial Planning and Analysis:
  • Prepare detailed budgets and forecasts for solar engineering projects

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management

Risk Management:
  • Assess financial risks associated with solar projects

  • Develop mitigation strategies and risk management frameworks

Team Leadership and Collaboration:
  • Lead and mentor a finance team

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial requirements are met

Strategic Financial Input:
  • Provide financial perspectives on potential business growth opportunities

  • Analyze market trends and assess opportunities and risks

Investor and Stakeholder Relations:
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and investor relations materials

  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders

Key Skills and Qualifications:

Educational Background:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration

  • Professional certification such as SAICA membership or similar is an advantage

Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in finance management or project finance roles

  • Proven experience managing the financials for engineering projects

  • Knowledge of financial incentives, subsidies, and regulations within the renewable energy industry is a plus

Technical Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems

  • Experience with financial reporting tools and accounting software

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
  • Strong ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Leadership and Communication Skills:
  • Strong leadership skills and excellent communication skills

  • Ability to build relationships with external partners, investors, and government agencies
