General Manager - Cape Town
Overview
Our client has a need for a dynamic and hands-on General Manager to lead the strategic planning and management of renewable energy Community Trusts. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for community engagement and a deep commitment to driving sustainable community development strategies that benefit local communities.
The General Manager's primary focus will be on shaping and executing the overall business strategy. While the role will primarily concentrate on strategic objectives, it will also encompass overseeing certain operational aspects to ensure alignment with the broader organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership to the Trust Office team
Ensure that the vision, mission and business strategy are articulated at every level of the trusts
Manage governance, risk and legal compliance across all trusts
Ensure effective and efficient delivery of community development initiatives.
Provide financial oversight and ensure compliance with regulations and approved budgets
Manage internal and external stakeholder relations
Operational Responsibilities:
Oversee all operational and governance activities to ensure that they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy of the organisation.
Set the culture of the trust and take responsibility for the talent recruitment and management
Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure effective recording, tracking and management of revenue and expenditure in line with the legislative requirements and accounting standards
Oversee effective financial provision for grant making and structured programmes delivery and branding
Oversee policies, frameworks, systems, processes and procedures to ensure business risk is managed
Identify and present new business opportunities to the Board for consideration
Qualifications
Post-graduate qualification (Degree) in legal, financial, and development fields
Proven track record in senior leadership roles
Must understand Legal aspects of working within communities
Strategic thinking with strong legal/financial acumen
Understanding of community development principles
