Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Junior Contract Manager to join our client's team on an 18-month fixed-term contract. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the successful execution of utility-scale solar PV EPC projects across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa. Responsibilities
As a Junior Contract Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the contract lifecycle management of our projects. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Contract Planning
Assisting with stakeholder engagement and preparing supporting documentation, communication, and presentations.
Establishing and maintaining contract folder structures for draft contracts and schedules.
Tracking and comparing changes, controlling contract and schedule revisions.
Preparing contracts for signature and assisting with the signature process.
Contract Execution & Obligations
Maintaining folder structures for executed contracts.
Participating in project team meetings and providing updates.
Identifying contract risks, opportunities, deviations, and deficiencies.
Assisting Project Managers with corrective actions and potential mitigations.
Monitoring day-to-day compliance with EPC and subcontractor contracts.
Compiling, establishing, and tracking project documents and deliverables.
Maintaining communication registers and file index systems.
Ensuring timely receipt and submission of contract deliverables.
Coordinating workshops related to contract obligation processes.
Acting as the first point of contact for basic contractual queries and escalating complex matters to the Contracts Manager.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
Diploma or certification in Contracts Management, Law, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in contract administration, preferably within EPC or construction projects.
Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 and related quality standards.
Understanding of EPC project requirements and implications.
Knowledge of contract management and standard contract forms (FIDIC, NEC, JBCC, etc.).
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently under pressure.
A team player with problem-solving skills and a process-driven mindset.
Desirable Attributes
Exposure to the South African Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP).
Ability to interpret and read standard form contracts.
Day-to-Day
Your daily activities will include:
Collaborating with Project Managers, Supply Chain Managers, Engineers, and Construction Managers to ensure contractual compliance.
Monitoring and tracking contract deliverables and obligations.
Preparing and maintaining documentation, templates, and communication registers.
Participating in team meetings and workshops to address contract-related processes.
Identifying and mitigating risks associated with contracts.
