We are working with a well-established boutique law firm looking to appoint a Senior Attorney with strong conveyancing experience to oversee their residential and estate property transactions. The successful candidate will be a highly organized, proactive, and experienced legal professional with a strong ability to build systems, manage a team, and ensure smooth property transactions from start to finish. Key Responsibilities:
Conveyancing Pipeline Management:
Manage an active pipeline of residential and estate property transactions, including 62 residential transfers and 50 estate late transfers (25 active and 25 pending various stages).
Provide expert guidance and advice to senior transfer secretaries and junior conveyancer on complex legal matters.
Ensure smooth and timely transfers by identifying potential issues early, managing risks, and resolving any arising discrepancies throughout the conveyancing process.
Document Preparation and Review:
Review and prepare all relevant legal documents related to property transactions, including deeds, transfer duty receipts, sale agreements, and other required documentation.
Conduct thorough searches (title, mortgage, and third-party claims) to ensure legal compliance and risk mitigation in all transactions.
Problem-Solving and Resolution:
Take proactive steps to identify and resolve any legal or procedural issues before they impact the transaction, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for clients.
Client Communication:
Maintain professional, clear, and consistent communication with clients throughout the conveyancing process, ensuring they are updated regularly on progress and any issues are addressed promptly.
Oversee communication from junior staff, ensuring all reports and updates are accurate, timely, and meet the firm’s high standards. Reports are typically sent weekly on Thursdays.
Team Leadership and Mentoring:
Mentor and lead a team of senior transfer secretaries and a junior conveyancer, ensuring they are well-equipped with the skills and knowledge to handle their respective tasks.
Provide training, advice, and guidance to junior staff as needed, fostering their professional development and improving team performance.
Administrative and Operational Oversight:
Ensure all tasks are managed efficiently and deadlines are met, with a focus on managing the pipeline of property transfers and overseeing the preparation of all necessary documents.
Liaise with deeds office staff to ensure deeds are handed in, linked, and registered correctly, and ensure communication with clients regarding the status of their transfers.
Legal Advice and Drafting:
Provide legal advice to clients throughout the conveyancing process, particularly when dealing with any setbacks or complexities in property transactions.
Occasionally draft and review contracts, sale agreements, and transfer documents on an ad-hoc basis.
Networking and Business Development:
While primarily an office-based role, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to
network with potential clients, such as estate agents, to expand the firm’s client base and strengthen relationships with current partners.
Attend networking events, and client meetings, and engage in activities that contribute to the firm’s growth and presence in the market.

This is a primarily office-based role overseeing the conveyancing team and client transactions. However, there is an opportunity to engage in business development activities and network with potential clients.
