Overview:
Our client is currently looking to appoint a Senior Project Engineer to take a leading role in the engineering, technical design, and execution of grid-tied and hybrid solar PV projects. This position requires a technically proficient professional with a solid background in system design and project management. The successful candidate will be responsible for mentoring junior and mid-level engineers, engaging with key stakeholders, and ensuring high-quality delivery throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
Engineering & Design Oversight: Lead the engineering design of grid-tied and hybrid PV systems, review EPC technical submissions, ensure compliance with standards, and supervise technical documentation preparation.
Project Manager & Execution Support: Act as a technical lead across project lifecycles, participate in contract and design meetings, and ensure engineering deliverables align with project budget and timelines.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key technical point of contact with clients, EPCs, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, and provide defendable advice and recommendations to senior management and external partners.
Mentorship & Development: Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, develop standard operating procedures, and promote a culture of learning and continuous improvement in the engineering team.
Operations Support: Assist Asset Management and O&M teams with fault diagnostics, oversee performance testing, and support system upgrades.
Sales & Business Development Support: Provide technical support to the business development team, contribute to proposal development, and support commercial and sales teams with technical input.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Honours or master’s advantageous).
Minimum 3 years in engineering design and project implementation of PV systems >100 kW.
Minimum 3 years of experience in technical leadership or project management within EPC/IPP sector.
Experience in mentoring or supervising junior engineers.
Experience with PR testing, energy efficiency, and grid compliance is advantageous.
Day-to-Day:
The Senior Project Engineer will lead the engineering design, provide technical support across project lifecycles, engage with stakeholders, mentor junior engineers, and support operations and business development activities.
