Overview
Our client needs a Service Account Manager who’s ready to make a real impact. In this role, you’ll take the lead in strengthening customer relationships, unlocking new business opportunities, and driving growth through exceptional service delivery in the Southern Region (South Africa; Namibia; Botswana). You'll be front and centre in showcasing value—from technical excellence to performance outcomes.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and new customers to identify and secure future sales opportunities.
Collaborate with the regional Customer Support Coordinator and Sales Coordinator to quantify potential sales opportunities.
Actively pursue customers who have not purchased spare parts since their initial capital purchase, identifying growth opportunities.
Maintain regular contact with key personnel at mine sites and establish connections for new mining projects.
Provide accurate and detailed information to support the sales engineering process.
Identify and pass on leads for larger capital procurement projects to the designated Key Account Manager and Business Development Manager.
Participate in training and motivational activities to enhance teamwork and cohesiveness within the organization.
Travel domestically and internationally as required, with a focus on achieving negotiated site travel days (120–150 days per annum).
Qualifications
Electrical, Mechanical, or Millwright/Fitter & Turner trade qualification or equivalent.
3–5 years of experience in a technical role, preferably in a mining or manufacturing environment.
At least 2 years of customer relations experience, ideally in a mining or export-related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely.
Proven ability to build rapport, establish relationships, and respond effectively to customer needs.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and drive sales to completion.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Previous experience with an OEM in the mining industry is essential.
Desirable
Prior experience in field sales.
Familiarity with the hard rock mining industry.
Knowledge of mill relining or related machinery.
Day-to-Day
Engage with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Travel to customer sites to build relationships, identify opportunities, and provide on-site support.
Prepare and follow up on proposals and quotes to secure sales.
Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the organization’s Lean philosophy and ISO quality systems framework.
