Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting & Finance Manager to lead and oversee all accounting and financial functions within our client's organization. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity of financial operations, compliance with regulatory requirements, and the strategic financial management of the company. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance and supporting the organization’s strategic objectives.

The role is based in Nairobi, Kenya.

Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities:
  • Manage and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s accounts, ensuring compliance with internal and external accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee general accounting, statutory accounts, tax compliance, management accounts, treasury, and cash management functions.

  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicator (KPI) reports.

  • Lead the preparation of year-end statutory accounts and annual reports for shareholders.

  • Ensure timely and accurate tax returns and payments, while maintaining compliance with tax regulations.

  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders, including banks, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies.

  • Supervise and develop the Accounting & Finance team, ensuring effective succession planning and professional growth.

  • Provide strategic financial advice to the Managing Director, identifying opportunities to optimize financial performance and mitigate costs.

  • Oversee external audits and ensure compliance with all legislative financial requirements and best practices.

  • Develop and manage the department’s annual budget, ensuring adherence and addressing any deviations.

Operational Responsibilities:
  • Manage the allocation of departmental budgets and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

  • Provide guidance to direct reports, mentor and coach them when necessary.

  • Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying gaps and implementing corrective actions.

  • Ensure effective workforce planning, talent acquisition, and succession management within the department.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, effective communication, and collaboration across the organization.

Qualifications
Academic and Professional Requirements:
  • Qualified ACCA, CIMA, or ACA Accountant, or a minimum MSc in Accounting or Finance.

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

  • Advanced knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and tax regulations.

  • Proficiency in IT and ERP systems, financial modeling, and treasury management.

  • Strong leadership, team development, and coaching skills.

  • Highly proficient in English, both written and verbal.
