We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Services Mechanical Engineer (Fire) to join our client's team in Cape Town. This is a permanent position within the engineering and construction sector, offering an exciting opportunity to work on multi-disciplinary construction projects across South Africa and internationally. Responsibilities

As a Building Services Mechanical Engineer (Fire), your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing fire safety and fire compliance designs for diverse construction projects.

  • Managing small to medium projects independently and contributing to large projects as part of the fire design management team.

  • Designing firefighting equipment, smoke evacuation systems, stair pressurization systems, and fire sprinkler systems.

  • Applying SANS deemed-to-satisfy and rational fire safety design principles.

  • Conducting thermal modelling (advantageous but not mandatory).

  • Representing the company professionally in client meetings, site visits, and surveys.

  • Assisting in the preparation of tender documentation and general project management administration.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Educational Background: BTech or BEng in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Fire Engineering within the building services environment.

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in SANS fire safety design standards, firefighting equipment design, and related systems.

  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.

  • Professional Registration: Already registered or willing to apply for ECSA professional registration status.
