Overview
We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced Resident Engineer to take the lead on a 12-month fixed-term contract, overseeing water and wastewater treatment works. Based in East London, Eastern Cape, this role offers a negotiable package, including travel and accommodation allowances.
Responsibilities
Oversee and manage water treatment and wastewater treatment projects.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
Provide technical guidance and support to the project team.
Conduct site inspections and monitor project progress.
Prepare and review engineering designs, drawings, and documentation using relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD).
Liaise with stakeholders, contractors, and clients to ensure project objectives are met.
Address and resolve any technical issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BEng/BSc Eng) or BTech in Civil Engineering.
Professional registration as Pr Eng or Pr Tech.
A minimum of 10 years of post-registration experience, specifically in water treatment and wastewater treatment works.
Proficiency in engineering software, particularly AutoCAD.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Day-to-Day
Collaborate with the project team to ensure smooth execution of daily operations.
Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and address any on-site challenges.
Review and approve technical drawings and project plans.
Communicate with stakeholders to provide updates and address concerns.
Ensure adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for all project activities.
