Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Manager of Stakeholder Relations to join our client's team. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is pivotal in fostering and maintaining strong relationships with host communities, government entities, and other key stakeholders. The position is based at the mine site in the Rustenburg area, Northwest Province.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement stakeholder relations management plans aligned with the company’s strategy.
Maintain healthy relationships with host communities and external stakeholders.
Build and enhance the company’s brand presence among government departments and offices.
Conduct socio-political analyses and provide reports to the Managing Director.
Develop and manage a comprehensive community database and conduct ongoing needs assessments.
Collaborate with internal departments to create integrated reputation management strategies.
Identify and engage with key community role-players to support community-directed initiatives.
Monitor legislative changes affecting the company’s operations and ensure compliance.
Develop and execute communication plans to strengthen brand awareness.
Manage community engagement plans and ensure effective communication with stakeholders.
Provide guidance and support to internal departments on stakeholder relations matters.
Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.
Prepare and manage workshops, forums, and community meetings, ensuring timely follow-ups.
Collaborate with HR and Legal teams to ensure accurate reporting for legislative requirements, including SLP, EE, BEE, and Mining Charter compliance.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communication, Political Science, Public Relations, Law, or a related field
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in Stakeholder Engagement, Communications, or a similar field. Experience in SLP management and the mining industry is advantageous
Language Proficiency: Fluent in English (written and verbal). Proficiency in Sepedi, Fanakalo, or other local languages is advantageous
Skills:
Strong interpersonal, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
Excellent presentation, public speaking, and writing abilities
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Knowledge of South African black economic empowerment legislation, including the Mining Charter and BEE codes
Ability to work independently or as part of a team, manage competing priorities, and deliver under pressure
Strong business acumen and understanding of the mining industry
Day-to-Day
Engage with host communities, government officials, and other stakeholders to address concerns and foster positive relationships
Conduct community needs assessments and provide actionable insights to the leadership team
Monitor and report on socio-political developments affecting the company’s operations
Organize and attend community meetings, workshops, and forums, ensuring effective communication and follow-up
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with legal and legislative requirements
Prepare weekly and monthly reports for management and the Managing Director
