Overview
We are searching for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex Supply Chain and Logistics projects. This is a 12-month contract role within the Project Management Office of our client's Group IT/Project Delivery department. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing cross-functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of strategic business outcomes.
Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Governance
Lead and manage end-to-end delivery of Supply Chain, Distribution Centre, and Warehouse projects from initiation to closure.
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and resource plans.
Ensure adherence to PMO methodology, governance, and reporting standards.
Track milestones, deliverables, risks, issues, dependencies, and decisions.
Support governance forums, including Steering Committees and working groups.
Reporting & Controls
Prepare and present weekly and monthly project status reports.
Provide executive dashboards and summaries for senior stakeholders.
Maintain accurate RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies), decision, and action logs.
Ensure transparency and timely escalation of risks and issues.
Support project assurance, readiness, and compliance reporting.
Financial, Resource & Vendor Management
Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial tracking.
Support business case development and benefits tracking.
Manage vendor engagement, contracts, and delivery oversight.
Coordinate project resource planning and utilisation.
Stakeholder & Delivery Collaboration
Facilitate workshops, planning sessions, and stakeholder engagement forums.
Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, and IT stakeholders.
Drive alignment between business priorities and technology delivery.
Support change management and adoption activities.
Tools & Delivery Enablement
Maintain project data within the Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool.
Use Microsoft Teams and SharePoint for collaboration and document control.
Ensure consistent use of project delivery tools and templates.
Travel
Travel locations: Cape Town (based in Woodstock or Montague Gardens) but travel in the country will be a requirement
Project manager to support all business go-lives nationally and be on-site during the hypercare period
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or a related discipline.
PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or equivalent certification (required).
Programme management certification (e.g., MSP) is advantageous.
Minimum Experience
8+ years of experience in Project Management.
3+ years of experience managing programmes or multiple interdependent projects.
Proven experience delivering Distribution Centre and Warehouse transformation projects (essential).
Experience delivering Supply Chain, Logistics, or Distribution initiatives.
Experience in retail and/or pharmaceutical environments (advantageous).
Experience managing third-party vendors and system integrators.
Knowledge & Skills
Advanced project and programme delivery expertise.
Strong understanding of Distribution Centre and Warehouse operations and systems.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Financial management and budgeting capability.
Proficiency in MS Project, Jira, Smartsheet, or similar tools.
Strong risk and issue management skills.
Understanding of change management practices and delivery lifecycles.
