Overview

We're seeking a highly motivated and experienced Key Account Manager to join our client's team in the mining sector. This role is pivotal in driving growth within a designated sales territory by fostering strong customer relationships, delivering exceptional service, and achieving key performance objectives. The successful candidate will play a critical role in implementing strategic initiatives, managing accounts, and contributing to the overall success of the business.

Responsibilities
  • Achieve or exceed KPI targets related to volume, gross profit, costs, overdue accounts, and working capital.

  • Negotiate and execute offers to optimize returns for both the company and customers.

  • Implement mining and market sector strategies within the designated sales portfolio.

  • Develop and manage detailed key account plans to enhance customer relationships and align with business strategies.

  • Identify and secure new customers to increase market share using CRM tools.

  • Upsell and cross-sell products to enhance profitability and customer value.

  • Collaborate with the Credit team to manage credit limits, reduce overdue accounts, and avoid bad debt.

  • Provide accurate input for forecasting cycles to ensure adequate inventory levels.

  • Maintain and build strong customer relationships, addressing queries and complaints promptly.

  • Monitor market and competitor behavior, providing feedback to relevant stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality)
  • Adhere to Driving Safety Standards (DSS) and ensure personal safety on customer sites.

  • Work with the Assets and Operations team to maintain asset integrity on customer sites.

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Mine Health and Safety Act (if applicable).

Legally Required Training Responsibilities
  • OHSAct Training

  • Complete training related to applicable legislation.

  • Ensure compliance with legal and safety requirements when on customer sites.

Qualifications
  • Essential: Undergraduate degree or National Diploma in Marketing, Sales, Commerce, or Engineering.

  • Minimum of 6 years of Key Account Management experience in Sales, Marketing, or Business Development.

  • Preferably experienced in the petrochemical or mining sectors with a basic understanding of fuels and lubricants.

  • Proficiency in Excel and systems such as SAP.

  • In-depth knowledge of the Petrochemical/Energy/Mining industry is advantageous.

  • Strong skills in customer relationship management and account planning.

Day-to-Day
  • Develop and execute account plans to meet sales targets.

  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery.

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities.

  • Manage credit and financial aspects of customer accounts.

  • Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards during site visits.
