Overview

We are searching for an experienced Corporate Convenience Manager to lead and develop the Group’s Convenience Retail (CR) and Additional Profit Centres (APCs) across its African affiliates. This role focuses on strategic alignment, network optimisation, commercial performance and brand consistency across convenience retail, food programmes, services and backcourt partnerships.

The position plays a key role in driving convenience growth through strategic planning, partner governance, category management, marketing activation and data-led performance tracking.

Extensive travel across Africa is required, along with fluency in English and French. Arabic is an advantage.

This role is based in Dubai.

Responsibilities
Strategy & Network Development
  • Implement the Group Convenience Retail strategy in alignment with the overall Retail Strategy.

  • Develop multi-format shop concepts and scalable convenience models tailored to diverse markets.

  • Establish site selection criteria and prioritize CR implementation by country and network potential.

  • Maximize synergies between fuel and CR to enhance customer conversion and dwell time.

  • Expand APCs, including car wash, lubes bays, and rental partnerships.

Partnerships & Franchising
  • Govern dealer, franchise, rental, and third-party agreements.

  • Drive the development and expansion of franchise models, alliances, and F&B partnerships.

  • Support Affiliates in selecting backcourt partners and food operators.

  • Monitor partner performance and ensure joint value creation.

Commercial Performance & Profitability
  • Monitor profitability of shops, APCs, and bays across Affiliates.

  • Drive key performance metrics such as traffic, conversion, basket size, and margin.

  • Identify and implement strategies to strengthen non-fuel revenue streams.

Marketing & Customer Engagement
  • Lead CR marketing initiatives, promotions, and in-store activations.

  • Oversee digital engagement tools, loyalty platforms, and customer analytics.

  • Ensure consistent brand activation and customer experience across all sites.

Category Management & Shop Optimization
  • Develop backcourt strategies and category management processes.

  • Optimize layouts, assortments, and space utilization in collaboration with Affiliates.

Concept Governance
  • Govern the Group’s shop brand and ensure adherence to branding guidelines.

  • Provide operational manuals, guidelines, and execution tools for consistency across markets.

Performance Monitoring & Innovation
  • Track and analyze key CR KPIs and recommend corrective actions.

  • Utilize shopper insights and consumer behavior data to refine retail strategies.

  • Drive innovation in loyalty programs, digital payments, and retail engagement platforms.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business; additional qualifications in Sales, Marketing, or Retail are preferred.

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in Sales & Marketing with proven success in Retail development across multiple geographies.

  • Strong expertise in Convenience Retail, franchise management, partnerships, and multi-store expansion.

  • Understanding of fuel retail operations and synergy between fuel and CR.

  • Experience in African markets is highly desirable.

  • Fluency in English and French is required; Arabic is advantageous.
