Overview

We are searching for an Executive General Manager to lead our client's Northern Division within a prominent fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) organization based in Johannesburg. This is a strategic leadership role that requires a visionary professional with a proven track record in driving operational excellence, fostering innovation, and achieving sustainable growth. The successful candidate will report directly to the Group Operations Executive and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the division.

Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement a business strategy aligned with market leadership and customer needs.

  • Drive innovation and transformation across FMCG operations, retail, and wholesale sales.

  • Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities and market expansion initiatives.

  • Foster a culture of agility, resilience, and continuous improvement.

Human Capital Management
  • Build and lead a high-performing team to achieve organizational goals.

  • Enhance leadership capabilities and workforce efficiency within the management team.

  • Promote diversity, inclusion, and employee engagement across the division.

  • Maintain a strong corporate culture while optimizing productivity.

General Management
  • Oversee seamless day-to-day operations across sales, marketing, and business development.

  • Strengthen operational efficiency through effective management practices.

  • Implement robust risk management strategies and ensure compliance with regulations.

  • Align business objectives with sustainability and community initiatives.

Financial Budgeting & Management
  • Lead the development and execution of divisional budgets to ensure profitability and cost optimization.

  • Drive business plans and strategies to achieve sustainable growth.

  • Collaborate with financial teams to maintain fiscal health and implement financial controls.

  • Monitor performance metrics and ensure accountability across the division.

Customer & Market Relationships
  • Build and maintain strong customer-centric relationships to enhance brand loyalty and market share.

  • Utilize data analytics to understand market trends and competition.

  • Develop partnerships with members, suppliers, and stakeholders to strengthen business relationships.

  • Oversee pricing strategies and promotional initiatives to maintain competitiveness.

Qualifications
  • Education: A degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Experience: Minimum of 7+ years in leadership roles, preferably within the FMCG sector.

  • Leadership Exposure: Proven ability to lead operations and sales with significant turnover.
