Overview
We are on the hunt for an experienced Finance Manager to join our client's team. The Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial management and reporting of various project companies within our portfolio, which includes operational power plants across the country. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of a leading independent power producer in Africa.
Responsibilities
As a Finance Manager, your key responsibilities will include:
Financial Reporting and Transactional Management
Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial records, including general ledgers and fixed asset ledgers.
Managing month-end account closures and ensuring the accuracy of profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
Preparing financial inputs for monthly shareholder and stakeholder reports, as well as Board meeting reports.
Cash Flow Management
Overseeing cash management to maximize cash use and ensure compliance with lender covenant requirements.
Preparing cash flow forecasts and maintaining treasury banking relationships.
Managing loan repayments, dividend distributions, and payment approvals.
Statutory and Compliance Reporting
Preparing and signing off annual audited financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
Ensuring compliance with tax regulations, including VAT, WHT, and corporate tax returns.
Managing external tax advisors and coordinating responses to tax audits.
Filing compliance reports with relevant institutions.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Supporting the budget and forecasting process as a business partner to the operations team.
Analyzing and reporting budgets to the group and ensuring timely system uploads.
Broader Finance Team Support
Providing ad hoc support for budgeting, BBBEE reporting, vendor management, and other finance-related responsibilities.
Assisting with economic development reporting and other group-level finance tasks.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:
Chartered Accountant (CA) (SA) qualification or equivalent NQF level qualification.
Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in a financial management role.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial/management accounting practices.
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
Experience in renewable energy, shared services, or asset-intensive organizations is advantageous.
Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage high-pressure situations.
