Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Sales to lead and manage our clients' sales and service operations across South Africa, Africa, and globally. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving business growth, developing strategic sales plans, and ensuring the achievement of sales targets while maintaining profitability. This role requires a visionary leader with a proven track record in sales management, business development, and team leadership.

Responsibilities

As the Head of Sales, your key responsibilities will include:

Business Development
  • Defining, articulating, and implementing the organization's sales strategy.

  • Developing forecasts and strategies to achieve sales targets and profitability.

  • Identifying emerging markets and market shifts while staying informed about new products and competitors.

  • Initiating and coordinating action plans to penetrate new markets.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product, and Marketing, to drive business growth.

Sales Management
  • Managing the sales team and support staff to ensure sales targets are met.

  • Establishing sales force objectives, quotas, and budgets.

  • Analyzing sales statistics to determine sales potential and monitor customer preferences.

  • Maintaining accurate records of pricing, sales, and activity reports.

Supplier & Procurement Oversight
  • Planning order intake for specific market segments.

  • Monitoring customer preferences and market trends to guide procurement strategies.

  • Evaluating product quality and negotiating with vendors and suppliers.

Stock & Warehousing
  • Coordinating stock control operations with warehouse, sales, and finance teams.

  • Forecasting supply and demand to prevent overstocking or stock shortages.

  • Overseeing stock storage processes and conducting regular inventory audits.

Import & Export Management
  • Designing and implementing import/export strategies.

  • Ensuring compliance with local and international trade laws.

  • Managing logistics and developing effective supplier relationships.

Customer Relationship Management
  • Establishing service agreements and contracts with customers.

  • Ensuring prompt and satisfactory responses to customer inquiries, orders, and complaints.

  • Maintaining high levels of client satisfaction and representing the company professionally.

Leadership & Administration
  • Managing and motivating the sales team to achieve maximum profitability and growth.

  • Setting meaningful goals and performance objectives for subordinates.

  • Implementing reporting structures and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role, preferably in a global or regional capacity.

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to develop and execute strategic sales plans.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in analyzing market trends, sales data, and financial reports.

  • Knowledge of import/export regulations and supply chain management.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
