Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our client's dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering complex mechanical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving excellence in design, installation, and commissioning. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on mission-critical projects, including data centers and other large-scale installations, in a fast-paced and innovative environment.

Open to SA and EU candidates

Responsibilities
  • Project Delivery: Support the Mechanical Project Manager in delivering all assigned mechanical scope elements, ensuring alignment with project objectives and timelines.

  • Engineering & Design Coordination: Review IFC/design drawings and specifications, manage RFIs and technical queries, and support BIM coordination to produce construction and fabrication drawings.

  • Safety & Quality Assurance: Contribute to RAMS/method statements, implement ITPs/ITRs, maintain safety and QA records, and ensure compliance with project benchmarks.

  • Planning & Progress Monitoring: Align engineering tasks with project schedules, prepare take-offs and Engineering Materials Reports (EMR), and track procurement to avoid delays.

  • Site Supervision: Oversee installation quality for HVAC, CHW, ventilation, plumbing, fire protection systems, and other mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with specifications and codes.

  • Testing & Commissioning: Organize and support pressure tests, water treatment handovers, functional performance tests, and manage punch/snags to closure.

  • Documentation: Maintain technical submissions, redlines/as-builts, O&M inputs, and a weekly photographic diary.

  • Subcontractor Coordination: Collaborate with CSA, Electrical, and ICT teams, chair technical meetings, and track progress against plans.

  • Reporting: Provide weekly updates on engineering progress, risks, and constraints, escalating unresolved issues to the Mechanical Project Manager.

  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure adherence to relevant standards, including VDI 6022, DIN EN 16798, EN 378, and ISO 19650, among others.

  • Project Close-Out: Assist in finalizing accounts, O&M manuals, punch lists, safety files, and QA documentation.

Qualifications
Essential:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, with 5–8 years of experience in large installation projects (mission-critical/data centers preferred).

  • Proficiency in HVAC, chilled water, ventilation, plumbing systems, and BMS interfaces.

  • Strong knowledge of testing and commissioning workflows.

  • Competence in BIM/CAD tools and engineering document control.

  • Familiarity with industry standards such as VDI 6022, DIN EN 16798, EN 378, and ISO 19650.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver under tight schedules.

  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Desirable:
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing complex interfaces.

  • Familiarity with advanced BIM workflows and tools (Revit, Tekla, Navisworks).

  • Knowledge of sustainability practices (LEED/BREEAM) and embodied carbon considerations.

  • Exposure to ISO 19650 CDE workflows and 4D planning tools.

  • German language skills and knowledge of European building regulations (advantageous for international projects).

  • Experience in preparing EMR/take-offs and supporting modularization/prefabrication.

  • Expertise in building automation and controls, aligning BMS/BACS designs with ISO 16484 and VDI 3814.

  • Understanding of data center standards, including EN 50600, and the ability to design and report mechanical KPIs.

If you meet the qualifications and are ready to take on this exciting challenge, we look forward to hearing from you.
