Overview
The OneStream Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining high-quality data integrations and pipelines that power the organisation’s financial consolidation, planning, and reporting processes.This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Data Engineering, and Enterprise Systems — ensuring that data feeding into OneStream is accurate, automated, scalable, and aligned to business rules and governance frameworks.
You will enable “single version of the truth” reporting by ensuring data flows seamlessly, securely, and consistently into the OneStream platform.
Responsibilities
Data Integration & Pipeline Engineering
Design, develop, and maintain data integration processes between OneStream and source systems (ERP, CRM, HR, Data Warehouse, etc.).
Build efficient ETL/ELT workflows using OneStream integration tools, APIs, or third-party technologies.
Create and manage data transformation logic, mappings, and validation frameworks.
Monitor and troubleshoot integration failures, performance issues, and reconciliation gaps.
Metadata & Master Data Management
Maintain and govern OneStream metadata structures, hierarchies, dimensions, and mapping schemas.
Implement best practices for metadata versioning and controlled change management.
Collaborate with Finance and Functional teams to ensure metadata alignment with financial reporting requirements.
Data Quality & Governance
Develop automated checks, reconciliations, and exception reporting to ensure complete and accurate data loads.
Identify and resolve data integrity issues across systems and integration points.
Enforce strong governance over data lineage, validation rules, and data-entry standards.
Platform Performance & Optimisation
Contribute to performance tuning for data loads, cube processing, calculations, and workflows.
Streamline integration and data refresh cycles to improve reliability and speed.
Analyse and optimise system resource utilisation.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Support
Work closely with OneStream Functional Specialists, Finance SMEs, and IT to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Support Finance during close cycles, planning cycles, and reporting windows with timely data availability.
Provide technical input for enhancements, upgrades, automation, and platform scalability initiatives.
Documentation & Compliance
Create and maintain technical documentation for integrations, pipelines, mappings, and metadata models.
Support internal and external audits requiring data flow and system integrity evidence.
Comply with security, change management, and architectural standards.
Qualifications
Technical Skills
3–7 years’ experience in Data Engineering or ETL/ELT development.
Experience working with OneStream or similar CPM/EPM tools (e.g., Hyperion, SAP BPC, Anaplan, Tagetik).
Proficiency in ETL/ELT tools such as SQL, SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, or Talend.
Advanced SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
Experience with APIs, flat-file integrations, and automation scripting (PowerShell, Python, etc., advantageous).
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, modelling, and data governance.
Finance & Business Understanding
Familiarity with financial consolidation, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes.
Understanding of accounting structures (CoA, entities, scenarios, periods).
Ability to interpret finance requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and logical reasoning abilities.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset.
Clear communicator capable of explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
OneStream Data Integration/Implementation certifications (highly advantageous).
Experience in cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
Background in large enterprise data landscapes or multi-entity financial environments.
Exposure to CI/CD, DevOps practices, or automation frameworks.
