Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to manage and oversee the financial operations of our entities. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, validity, and timeliness of financial transactions while providing critical financial management support to the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, accounting, and compliance, with a proven ability to handle complex financial operations.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Accountant, your key responsibilities will include:
Financial Management
Monitoring and managing bank statements and cash flows.
Overseeing the processing and accounting of financial transactions, including purchases, receipts, and payments.
Ensuring the integration and optimisation of financial and operational activities.
Implementing and maintaining robust internal control operations.
Bookkeeping
Maintaining and updating financial records by recording all financial transactions.
Managing and reconciling various cashbooks.
Accounts Payable and Receivable
Creating and processing vendor invoices, verifying accuracy, and preparing monthly payments.
Issuing and tracking customer invoices, managing collections, and reconciling supplier statements.
Liaising with debtors and creditors.
Reviewing monthly payment schedules and processing payments.
Intercompany Transactions
Creating and issuing monthly intercompany invoices.
Reconciling intercompany loans and transactions.
Bank Reconciliation
Reconciling bank statements with internal accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
General Ledger
Maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries and ensuring all transactions are valid, accurate, and complete.
Tax and Compliance
Leading all tax-related matters, including VAT calculations, submissions, and provisional tax calculations.
Supporting tax audits and ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
Ensuring completion of annual returns and adherence to CIPC compliance requirements.
Audit
Preparing and managing audits and external reviews.
Financial Software and Systems
Accurately entering financial data into accounting systems and spreadsheets.
Utilizing accounting software to manage tasks and maintain financial records efficiently.
Budgeting and Reporting
Conducting analyses to prepare forecasts and budgets.
Managing and tracking budgets versus actual monthly expenditure.
Providing monthly updates on budget performance to the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer.
Administrative Tasks
Performing general administrative duties, such as filing financial documents and maintaining organised records.
